Eringson is a small program for the Palm OS platform. It can be used to fetch, edit, install and play back melodies on certain Ericsson mobile phones. Melodies can be edited using standard music notation, and can be easily copied to the memo pad. To use Eringson you need a Palm device, an Ericsson mobile phone and an infrared connection between these two. Eringson is released under the GPL.
See the development page for more information.
Jan 13, 2000 - Eringson 0.5.0 is finally in the pipeline. I have some code, but can't compile it since the OS 3.5 SDK (which I need for this) is not publicly available yet! But don't worry, I've just applied for Seeding Developer status and the SDK:s should start rolling in soon. :-)
Dec 21, 1999 - Eringson moved to SourceForge. Join the project!
Dec 20, 1999 - Decided to rewrite Eringson from scratch with OS 3.3 support.
Eringson v0.4.2 does not work with Palm OS 3.3. As a temporary fix, install the Enhanced IR Update again as per OS 3.3 Upgrade FAQ #27.
Unfortunately Eringson doesn't work with all phone and IR modem combinations. The melody command Eringson uses was added to the command set in April 1998 (possibly earlier) and is lacking from the first two revisions of the DI27. How to find the revision number on your product.
Here's a table with tested phone/modem combinations and the result of the test.
The latest version is 0.4.2, released in March 1999.
